5 Panels in Ritherdon Mix Grey<br> Each panel measures 230 × 115 × 0.5 cm<br> Mild steel sheet metal, coated with ‘dead powder’ to the point of resistance.<br><br> ‘Dead powder’ refers to the waste powder collected from the spray booth after each job. This residual material accumulates in a large IBC container and reflects a build-up of many different powder coating colours. As work continues in the paint shop, the colour of this waste gradually changes. The Dead Powder works document this transformation over time. <br><br> Installed at Bury Sculpture Centre in 2019. Produced as part of Return to Ritherdon, a project developed during a two-year artist placement at Ritherdon & Co Ltd — a manufacturer of steel enclosures based in Darwen, Lancashire.<br> Photographs by Jules Lister.
